Global Outreach

Prestonwood Literacy Missions is reaching the nations right here in the North Dallas area by teaching conversational English as a Second Language (ESL) to those with limited English.  This ministry is providing a wonderful way to share the love of Jesus Christ and the life-changing message of the Gospel with people who have come from all over the world.  In addition to the language lessons, each student learns important cultural skills.  Bibles are provided in each student’s native language, and devotionals and prayer are a part of every lesson.  ESL classes are held three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) at the Plano Campus, Tuesday nights at the Dallas Campus (starting September 13th), and weekly through our Apartment Church ministry.

As a new addition to Prestonwood Literacy Missions, Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) classes are offered each week on Thursday evenings as well from 7:00-9:00pm (Plano Campus).  These classes teach conversational Spanish with an emphasis on how to share the Gospel in that language.

The Literacy Ministry also reaches out to those who want to become United States citizens by teaching weekly citizenship classes conducted in simple English on Saturday afternoons from 4:00-5:50pm in Room A308 (Plano Campus).  Each class provides opportunities to give out Bibles and devotionals.

Volunteers are needed in each of these areas to teach, assist, or register adults for these classes.  Fluency in another language is not required, with the exception of SSL volunteers, who should speak Spanish.
